but a very useful tool is devtodo.

I have look at many different programs to find something that can handle todo lists. I have finally found a very good program that does what I need. It is called devtool and is a todo list for programmers. It is a command line tool. It doesn't have a GUI, although if you want one it should be easy to make a GUI frontend. However, you won't as the command line commands are very productive.

Usage (from man file):


     todo []
            With  no  options,  displays  the  items in the current
            directory.
     tda [-p ] [-g ] []
            Add a new item, optionally grafting it as  a  child  of
            the given item.
     tde 
            Edit the given item.
     tdr 
            Remove the given items.
     tdd 
            Mark the specified items as being done.

Wiki on the go!

Do you ever find yourself wanting some info you wrote down at home, but cannot access?

Hatta Wiki may be the solution for you. It is a one file wiki witten in Python and doesn't need any configuration to run. It is really easy to take with you as it can be run out of any give directory. Just copy the directory on your usb stick and you have it with you. For more advanced usage you can sync the wiki between computers/usb stick using mercurial. So it is very nice for project work as well as for personal usage.

Highly recommend that you have a look at this software! If you want a wiki for a bigger website you should consider Moinmoin like Ubuntu uses.

PulseAudio vapourware

After upgrading our 4 computers I found out that all had sound problems. After some searching I finally found out that it is due to PulseAudio. I have no idea why one need PulseAudio, it probably is the Right Thing[tm] for the future, but until it get beyond pre-alfa level it seems to be vapourware.

I found this blog helpful in getting rid of the crap. Alsa works just fine for me so why replace it?
